The DPO Certification

The Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) Intensive Preparatory Course and Certification Program aims to equip Data Protection Officers and other individuals responsible for processing personal data with comprehensive knowledge of privacy and data security to develop their competency in managing data processing activities in accordance with the DPA and global data privacy practices.

The DPO Requirement

Under the Data Privacy Act (DPA) of 2012 in the Philippines, it is mandatory for Personal Information Controllers (PICs) and Personal Information Processors (PIPs) to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO). This requirement not only emphasizes the key principle of accountability in data protection but also acts as a crucial tool in promoting a culture of privacy and compliance within organizations. The DPO, in collaboration with top management, should lead the organization’s efforts to comply with the DPA’s standards and uphold accountability.

CDPO: The DPO Certification

The CDPO Philippines Batch is a 2-day live, virtual, and interactive learning and certification program conducted via Zoom Business. This is a 16-hour expert-led intensive workshop program tailored for professionals.

Candidates for certification are expected to collaborate on brainstorming sessions and business case analyses relating to data privacy and protection and complete a 40-item multiple-choice timed assessment. This verifiable international certification provides lifetime validity. Certified practitioners are identified with the initials CDPO after their name.

Joan has a robust academic background, with a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of the Philippines Diliman and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Ateneo de Manila University.
