The Mandatory 8-Hour Safety and Health Training for Workers is a compulsory basic safety course required by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) pursuant to the Republic Act No. 11058.
All employees must take this course preferably at the beginning of their employment. This course ensures compliance with the OSHC requirements as well as qualifies learners in becoming accredited safety practitioners.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Appreciate Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and recognize the importance of various data and related legislation
- Understand, learn, and discuss basic concepts of OSH towards an effective implementation in the workplace
- Recognize safety hazards and appropriate safety measures in the respective workplaces
- Perform risk/hazards assessments, and evaluations, and recommend measures of control
- Know how to respond in workplace emergencies and participate in the conduct of emergency drills
- Identify prescribed administrative requirements and express commitment to OSH
